Seminar on Drug and Fraud Prevention: Mingyang High School and LAF Qiaotou Branch
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 2:55 PM to 4:40 PM, Mingyang High School hosted a "Drug and Fraud Prevention Awareness" seminar in the main auditorium. The event featured Attorney Zhao Yu-ren, invited by the Legal Aid Foundation (LAF), Qiaotou Branch, as the keynote speaker. The seminar was attended by 70 staff members and 100 students, totaling 170 participants.
Before the main session, the Administrative Section provided an update on the revision of Article 78, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code regarding the revocation of parole, along with essential post-parole reminders. Attorney Zhao then introduced the mission, eligibility, and application process of the Legal Aid Foundation, emphasizing the importance of students understanding their legal rights. He encouraged students to seek legal assistance or clarification regarding their cases after the session.
During the core lecture, Attorney Zhao detailed the evolution of modern scam tactics and the latest anti-fraud legislation. He noted that as fraudulent methods become increasingly sophisticated, they not only cause immense financial loss but also create widespread social anxiety. He warned students that parole evaluations for fraud-related crimes have become significantly stricter and highlighted the heavy burden of civil restitution, urging students not to let momentary greed lead to a lifetime of regret.
Regarding drug prevention, Attorney Zhao reminded the audience that the legal penalties for manufacturing, selling, consuming, or transferring drugs are severe. He specifically cautioned that mixing drugs into "instant coffee packets" or acting as a courier for drug delivery constitutes the serious crimes of drug manufacturing or trafficking, rather than minor offenses.
Through the integration of legal regulations and real-world cases, Attorney Zhao illustrated how fraud and drug crimes jeopardize both public property and health. He concluded by stressing that the prevalence of fraud casts a shadow of suspicion over society. The seminar aimed to equip students with essential legal knowledge and foster a law-abiding mindset, encouraging them to be responsible citizens rather than "troublemakers."
